I Need A Revival

In the world today, people are plagued with the propensity to follow the repetitious and degrading sequence of passing the buck. Human nature hinders us from taking full responsibility for our situation and condition. It is always someone else who is to blame for what I am presently facing.

Some stumble over their feet, and then blame others for tripping them. Most failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses. It with this in mind that I present this thought, which when truly taken to heart will change the way we live our day to day lives. Though it may sound simple, its application is able to transform us into what the apostle Paul said we are to be - More than conquerors

I Need a Revival

I do not come bringing a message that my neighbor needs a revival, is it not the church body that needs a revival, nor even our country for that matter. While I may recognize the need for revival in all of these areas, I too often stop there without realizing that within myself – I need a revival.

I submit to you that the future is in your hand. We cannot understand the power of one man. Be it towards the positive or negative the repercussions of one man’s actions can send shock waves through an entire country.

I am faced with the reality that Christians do backslide and drift away from their first love. Honest self-examination leads me to admit that from time to time the drifting begins in my life, when the effects of the world, not some gross sin but just the sin of neglect. As little and insignificant as it seems I see the danger for it has been the usher of many a people down the road of apostasy, Godlessness and destruction.

I am awakened to the severity of the future which lies in my hand as I do more than echo the words of Paul… I make them mine.

1 Cor 9:24-27

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
